"Cowgirls At The Round-Up 1911" features more than thirty cowgirls lined up to greet train loads of visitors as they arrived for the second annual Round-Up in Pendleton, Oregon, 1911. You can see the Queen holding a sign that reads: "Queen of the Round-Up." She is flanked on both sides by two of her court. The quote along the bottom portion of the archival paper is from Joyce Gibson Roach, who wrote the first and most definitive book on the pioneer rodeo cowgirl entitled The Cowgirls. The quote reads: "The emancipation of women may have begun not with the vote, nor in the cities where women marched and carried signs and protested but rather when they mounted a good cow horse and realized how different and fine the view. From the back of a horse, the world looked wider." This quality duo-tone print was first published in 1995, and continues to be our best-seller today. Printed on sturdy, matte-finish, archival paper; gently rolled and shipped in a double layer of cylindrical cardboard tubing.
