Pendleton Cowgirl Company takes a turn!
New directions prompt name change to CowgirlCafeOnline

Where we've been:
We began in 1992 as Pendleton Cowgirl Company, Inc. Our mission was to liberate the pioneer
rodeo cowgirl from the dusty confines of museums and bring her stories to a generation of
American women who grew up before the advent of Title IX and, for the most part, didn't know
that pioneer rodeo cowgirls ever existed, much less made headlines from 1910 to 1930, earned
international fame, and won trophies and prize money for their efforts. Believing that a picture is
worth a thousand words, we began with a modest set of nine notecards featuring vintage rodeo
photos collected from a variety of sources; we included historic sketches printed on the backs.
The interest was instant and overwhelming. Before long our collection blossomed into over 80
published images in notecards, prints, T-shirts,and calendars. Nearly all of these images were
originally photographed at the early Pendleton Round-Up rodeo celebrations in Oregon, thus the
company name was coined to honor the origination of the images, the history, and the
captivating stories of ordinary women who chose to involve themselves in the colorful times of
America's Wild West.
